Wisconsin Business Owners Lunch & Learn- April 24, 2015:
What Sets You Apart From Your Competition?
By Alicia Olsen
Do you have a clear focus/understanding of what your competitive advantage is? (i.e., what makes your product/service superior to competitors?)
If you do have a defined competitive advantage, is it distinct enough to convince customers to choose you over a competitor?
If you do have a defined, distinct competitive advantage, are you clearly articulating it/selling your advantages in your marketing (website, flyers, advertising, emails, etc.)?
In today’s media-heavy world, consumers are overwhelmed with options. The most successful businesses are effective at telling customers why their product or service is better than alternatives out there. However, many small businesses I’ve worked with struggle to do this effectively. They may not understand their competitive advantage, or just may not know how to “sell” it persuasively to customers. Learning this skill can gain you more customers, more referrals and more repeat business.
This presentation will reveal:
a. What a competitive advantage is, and why it’s important
b. The two categories most small businesses tend to fall into, even though many don’t realize it (these are mistakes that can be easily fixed to greatly increase customer acquisition success)
c. How to find your competitive advantage – the basics and some examples
d. How to market your competitive advantage – the basics and some examples
If you’re not sure what your competitive advantage is, how to determine it, or how to market it effectively to gain more business, join us to learn about this essential factor for any small business.
